Boston is famous for its multi-level brownstones. The trick for homebuyers is to find one that “needs some love” and see the potential. Rather than over-paying for a completely remodeled brownstone, these savvy South End buyers found an affordable home and used the money they saved to renovate it to their taste.

The main floor of this four-story home featured a dark and dated kitchen that hadn’t been updated in decades and opened onto a living/family room. This ‘heart of the home’ had definitely seen better days. Turning to the Divine design team, this couple asked for a modern kitchen with transitional style inspired by the history of the neighborhood. The crisp white and gray colors add a modern flair. Professional appliances, a wine refrigerator and a functional, yet beautiful, kitchen island were installed while custom storage was built under the stairs to make clever use of every inch of space.

Older homes need the attention of master craftsmen – and Divine’s in-house team of carpenters, tile installers, and cabinet builders delivered. Each and every door in this home was replaced and the main floor guest bathroom renovated. Skilled craftsman oversaw the extensive millwork of this old home. Off came layers of paint and years of grime to reveal gorgeous curved railings, balusters and stairs – all lovingly refinished to their original beauty. The finished project is multi-level living at it’s best!

The renovations didn’t stop at the kitchen. Check out the amazing master bathroom transformation.

"Mariette, our kitchen is beautiful, and those who have seen it just love the space, the feel and the use of color. From the beginning, it was a collaborative effort and Mariette was straightforward, honest and through the whole process, kept her work. She was also able to offer us a great product and excellent workmanship. We would highly recommend Divine and Mariette Barsoum to anyone."
