New construction can be boring when builder-grade fixtures don’t reflect your taste and style. When purchasing their home, these clever homeowners knew to bring in a designer right from the beginning to personalize their home. The result? A magnificent kitchen that showcases the room’s soaring ceilings and unique lines.

Designer Mariette Barsoum of Divine poured over the plans and realized that a necessary structural column in the middle of the room could be an eyesore. By wrapping it in the same detailed wood panels as the ones in the dining room, the column now looks as if it was meant to be there and adds a gorgeous focal point to the multi-level island.

The wrought iron details are repeated in the corbels supporting the granite bar, the high backed stools, and the staircase balusters, unifying the kitchen as it flows into the rest of the home. A partnership with a kitchen designer proves that even with new construction you can customize and think beyond the builder’s vision. This gorgeous new home now has a French flair that makes the neighbors envious.

"My kitchen required a complete design change in order to have it function effectively. With Mariette’s help, we were able to double our cabinet space, triple our counter space and retain our eat-in-area – all without adding any square footage! Mariette was able to understand and design what we wanted for our kitchen, while contributing ideas which enhanced the project. In addition, all the materials she supplied (cabinets, countertops, hardware etc) were of superior quality. Further, Mariette’s part of the project was completed on time and on budget!"
