Technically, a master bathroom is any bathroom that’s part of the master suite … but not every bathroom lives up to the name. This next master bathroom design, in a home in Wellesley, is ever bit as grand and glamorous as the term implies. It’s spacious yet thoughtfully designed, traditional but fresh, and functional yet stylish.
The bathroom was renovated from top-to-bottom to give it an updated feel and optimal layout. Central to the design plan were the spacious his-and-her vanities, which are connected by a makeup station for the wife. The separate soaking tub and glass-enclosed shower were also must-haves for the homeowners given the spacious layout of the room.
As for the style of the bathroom, the homeowners were looking for something that complemented the traditional architecture of their home, but they also were after a design that felt fresh, airy, and glamorous, too. To achieve that, we went with transitional shaker-style vanity cabinets, polished nickel hardware, and marble countertops and tile. The floor tile is a classic basketweave that beautifully echoes the gray and white color scheme in the room. The finishing touches were purely elements of style: a glass-beaded chandelier and a gray, blue and white area rug, which was used in place of a bath mat.
