3 European Furniture Designers You Should Know

July 11th, 2016 | Boston Interior Design Community, Home Design

If your dream home is sleek, contemporary, and luxurious, then you might want to start looking for your furniture across the pond. European furniture designers are known for creating streamlined, modern pieces that are of the moment, but designed to stand the test of time. It’s this exact combination of chic, cutting-edge style, and high-quality construction that we look for when we source the European furniture designers we house in our Boston-area showroom, Divine Design Center. Here’s a quick rundown of a few of our favorite lines we’re currently carrying.

Rolf Benz proves that German design is just as fine-tuned and desirable as German engineering. The company, which started out designing sofas more than 50 years ago, offers seating, occasional furniture, tables, and more in modernist-based style with a contemporary twist. Each piece is still made in Germany, which is probably the best guarantee of its quality. Or, as they say on the Rolf Benz website, “Only the best from each country: it is simply so much better to drink a glass of Italian wine while sitting on a German sofa – rather than the other way around.”

Team 7 Furniture.

Team 7 is an Austrian company that’s breaking the design mold when it comes to hardwood furniture. Besides their  dedication to beautiful design with a minimalist twist, the company is also a beacon of high quality. To ensure that each piece meets their exacting standards, nearly the entire supply chain is in-house. The company owns a sawmill, a board making factory and two furniture factories. That’s not to mention 74 hectares of woodland, where they grow their own trees.

Draenert, another German furniture company, was founded in 1968 and has become one of the design industry’s foremost leaders in craftsmanship and engineering. Draenert primarily offers dining furniture: at the company’s core are its coffee and dining tables, which feature patented extension mechanisms. Draenert is also well-known for its breadth of materials: they source more than 200 types of natural stone from around the world.
