What is IceStone?
So far IceStone has diverted over 13 million pounds of glass from landfills. Every slab of IceStone is manufactured in their 55,000-square-foot repurposed facility in the Brooklyn Navy Yarn in Brooklyn, NY that dates back to the 1900’s. Their goal is to become a zero-waste facility by using their state-of-the-art water recycling system that filters 98% of their manufacturing water, recycling any unusable glass or cement into roadbed and lighting their factory with sky lights to reduce energy consumption. IceStone is manufactured without any petrochemicals or resins, making it even more environmentally responsible. So far IceStone has been able to recycle 90% of their waste. IceStone is one of twenty companies in the world to hold a prestigious Cradle to Cradle Silver certification – and the only durable surface manufacturer to do so!
Care & Cost of IceStone
Care of IceStone is similar to that of natural stone. Like all surfaces, IceStone will show signs of wear and tear over time but with sensible care and maintenance, the beauty and quality of your IceStone will be sure to last. Currently IceStone’s price ranges from $80-$180/sq. but most colors come in much color to the $80 range.
One of the best parts of IceStone is the variety of colors it is available in. Conventional stone surfaces are limited in color but because IceStone is created from a mixture of cement and non-toxic pigments – there’s a color that will be sure to match the space you’re remodeling. Currently there are 16 modern shades available, from neutral whites speckled with color and muted natural tones to vivid sapphire blues and textured Moroccan reds.
